Here we go!
Where did my passion for holistic health and wellness come from? They say a picture is worth a thousand words, well here are a few to save you some reading.
I’ve struggled with skin issues since I was 12 years old. I’ll never forget, waking up one morning, looking in the mirror, and seeing what looked like hundreds of craters all over my face. Going from perfectly clear skin to a face full of acne, practically overnight, was a complete shock and crippling to my self-esteem and confidence. I wanted so desperately for these bumps to go away and for years I would do and try anything that promised to heal my skin.
My journey began by taking the conventional route but when western medicine failed me, time and time again, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I realized I needed to get down to the root cause of my skin disorder, not mask the symptoms with prescription drugs. So finally I said adios to all the antibiotics - the birth control, the doxycycline, the prednisone, and the extra strength excedrin I had been taking for years. This, along with the heavy drinking and smoking, was more than my liver could handle.
It wasn’t long before my symptoms came back full force — my skin was worse than ever. But this time, my skin wasn’t my only concern. I was dealing with hormonal imbalances, digestive distress, insulin resistance, adrenal fatigue, depression, horrible anxiety, and so much more. Years of antibiotics, contraceptive pills and pain killers had not only falsely masked my symptoms but also worsened the imbalance in my body.
The road ahead included both physical and emotional pain, but this did not deter me from my mission to get to the root cause - I was determined to heal. No more masking and no more hiding. I was hopeful and believed in the power of my body, but it took a lot of trial and error. I had to reteach myself how to have a positive dialogue with my body. I implemented mindfulness techniques into my daily routine. I detoxed my body, my habits and my thoughts, and before I knew it, my skin and body began to heal.
Today, I stand proud of who I am and how I treat my body. I still don’t have it all figured out and I don’t think I ever will. And to be perfectly honest, I am happy about that. It means I get to continue to listen, learn and grow. Through my many years of extensive research, education and experimentation, I have learned a tremendous amount about the power of the human body. Now I want to empower you to cultivate a positive dialogue with your body, help you figure out what works, eliminate what doesn’t and get down to the root cause of your health concerns. It’s time to take control of your health. You too have this power within you!
As my journey continues, I get to learn and grow each and every day and I want to share this with you!
